Abstract:

The USSR, since 1965, implemented program to use nuclear explosions for commercial and industrial applications. All nuclear explosions for industrial and commercial purposes were carried out underground, so they belong to the classification underground nuclear explosions. Each of these experiments had a secret name. "Torch" - the first industrial nuclear explosion on the territory of the Ukrainian SSR, was carried out on July 9, 1972 at 10:00 am local time at a distance of 3 km from the village Krestische Krasnograd district, Kharkiv region to extinguish oil/gas fires. The explosion did not reach its goal. "Cleavage" - which was carried out on the territory of the Ukrainian SSR on the east wing of the mine "Yunkom" on September 16, 1979 at 12 o'clock local time. The purpose of this test - reduction of stress in the rock mass. To conclude Ukraine experienced two "peaceful" nuclear explosions. These two nuclear tests were carried out almost in the center of Europe. But, the results of these nuclear tests are rather doubtful, and the damage was enormous. Our conclusion is: there is no clear use of nuclear explosions for peaceful purposes.
