Abstract:
The specific requirements for a course of On-Site Inspection (OSI) of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) place some exceptional challenges in terms of venue and scenarios, equipment transportation and coordination among different agencies, companies and suppliers. Due to its extent there is no other course like it in the framework of the CTBTO. In April 2018 the OSI regional introductory course - known as RIC23 - took place in Argentina and the Nuclear Regulatory Authority (ARN) was the main Point of Contact for local organization. This presentation intends to describe the key challenges encountered in organizing a regional OSI introductory course from the point of view of the hosting country and how they were tackled in the case of the RIC23. We anticipate that the remarks and lessons learned from this experience may be useful for preparing similar courses in the future.
