Special session: “Noble gas calibration and analysis algorithms”

Registration: All participants need a separate registration to the side meeting to make sure all have access to the VIC.

Objectives:

• According to the CTBTO/PTS/INF.1480 ACCEPTANCE PROCESS FOR NOBLE GAS SYSTEMS OF THE INTERNATIONAL MONITORING SYSTEM, the new software of analysis and calibration for the next generation systems should be reviewed during different development stages by PTS and developers as well as noble gas experts from NDCs and station parties;
• This SnT2019 side event focuses on analysis algorithms and calibration procedures of the net count calculation (NCC) method for next generation noble gas systems under development;
• It is composed of presentations to update us on the latest status by each development team and by the PTS followed by a general discussion;
• Basic requirements of analysis algorithm and calibration procedure will be discussed and general agreements should be concluded.

The technical visit to the TeST Centre during SnT2019 will provide relevant experts with an opportunity to be acquainted with specific operations at the facility, such as testing of techniques and methods, storage and maintenance of equipment, and training. Therefore the target group for such visit is SnT2019 participants with expertise in the technical programme and operations of the CTBTO.

The visit will comprise an introduction to several activities typically undertaken at the TeST Centre, including presentation on training and knowledge transfer, a demonstration of in-field verification procedures, and the operation of radionuclide measurement systems. Visitors will be on the ground from 9.30 to 11.30 am (departure from SnT2019 venue at 8.30 and return at 12.30). The number of visitors is limited to 45 persons, therefore registration is on a first come, first served basis.
